धर्म भावना Reflection of Nature of Right Path
जरा-मरण-वेगेणं, वुज्झमाणाण पाणिणं।
धम्मो दीवो पइट्ठा य गई सरण-मुत्तमं।।२१।।SSu
जरा मरण में डूबते, जीवन तेज बहाव।
द्वीप प्रतिष्ठा और गति, शरण धर्म की नाव॥२.३०.२१.५२५॥
जरा और मरण के तेज प्रवाह मे बहते–डूबते हुए प्राणियो के लिये धर्म ही द्वीप है, प्रतिष्ठा है, गति है तथा उत्तम शरण है।
For living beings who are floating in the currents of old age and death, religion is the best island, resting place and supreme shelter. (525)
माणुस्सं विग्गहं लद्धूं, सुई धम्मस्स दुल्लहा।
जं सोच्चा पडिवज्जन्ति, तवं खन्ति-महिंसयं।।२२।।SSu
मनुज जनम दुर्लभ सदा, धरम ही दुर्लभ पाठ।
तप अहिंसा और क्षमा, कठिन मिले ये ठाठ॥२.३०.२२.५२६॥
प्रथम तो चतुर्गतियों मे भ्रमण करने वाले जीव को मनुष्य शरीर मिलना ही दुर्लभ है फिर ऐसे धर्म का श्रवण तो और भी कठिन है जिसे सुनकर तप, क्षमा और अहिंसा को प्राप्त किया जाय।
(An impure soul-, that is roaming about in four grades of life, – is rarely fortunate to occupy (human-body); and he who occupies human body, more rarely gets the opportunity (or opportunities) to listen to (and thereby understand) the (true) religion i.e. a religion that includes austerities forgiveness and non-violence. (526)
