भाषा समिति Carefulness in Speech
न लवेज्ज पुट्ठो सावज्जं, न निरट्ठं न मम्मयं।
अप्पणट्ठा परट्ठा वा, उभयस्सन्तरेण वा।।१६।।SSu
पाप वचन या निरर्थक, ना दुख भेदी वाद।
भाषा समिति यही कहे , कर ना वाद विवाद॥२.२६.१६.३९९॥
जो स्वयं व अन्य के लिये पाप वचन, निर्रथक वचन और कटु वचन का प्रयोग न करे वो भाषा समिति परायण साधु है।
Even when enquired, a monk ought not to utter a sinful word, a senseless word, a heart-rending word either for the sake of oneself, or for the sake of another one, or for the sake of both. (399)
तहेव फरुसा भासा, गुरु भूओ-वघाइणी।
सच्चा वि सा न वत्तव्वा, जओ पावस्स आगमो।।१७।।SSu
कटु वचन बोले नहीं, लगे जीव अपघात।
सत्य वचन पापी बड़ा, जो करता आघात॥२.२६.१७.४००॥
कटु वचन या प्राणियों के चोट पहुँचाने वाली भाषा भी न बोले। ऐसा सत्य वचन भी न बोले जिससे पाप का बंध होता है।
The monk should not use harsh words or speak what is harmful to other living beings; even if it is true, because it is sinful. (400)
